BRUSSELS -- ABAN Singapore has awarded Marlink a five-year contract to install dual stabilized Sealink antennas onboard four jackup rigs.
Sealink provides Ku-band and C-band VSAT services. For ABAN, the antennas have been customized to provide high bandwidth over dedicated LAN.
“The installation of Sealink VSAT offers a huge improvement in communications compared with what is traditionally available on jackup rigs,” says Larry Austin, operations manager for ABAN Singapore. “We will have access to always-on bandwidth even during transport to the oil field or between regions, enabling a much more efficient use of deployment time as communications work can be carried out on-route to the new location.”
