Opus completes Montrose platform separator upgrade

GUILDFORD, UK -- Opus has completed a separator upgrade project on the Montrose platform in the North Sea for Talisman Energy (UK).

The company undertook process design for the separators and designed and supplied new internals for the platform’s first stage separator and dehydrator vessel. The project required Opus to improve performance and operability of the separators at future flow conditions.

“The work involved unique challenges – for example, the conversion of the existing dehydrator into a conventional separator required a novel internals configuration, with existing oil/water nozzles being re-employed with a series of internal collection manifolds – but through the skill and expertise of our team, we delivered the project on time and within budget,” says Nigel Weir, MD of Opus.
